The realtor.ca site sucks big time... what were they smoking when they came up with this one. I can see it now.. large boardroom table.. realtor.ca people on one side.. and frothing microsoft web geeks on the other side.... its pretty clear whoever gave the go ahead for this crappy site has no idea how to use a computer or knows what web design is.... did they even do any testing on this? Who is running realtor.ca John McCain?

Ok, I hate this new real estate site. Absolutely hate it! I am on dial up. It takes more than 30 minutes to download 2 seconds of the map. I haven't even managed to get to the properties. I type into the info area the city name, the price range of $150,000 to 400,000 and the other relevant information.... and i get 0 properties? You have got to be kidding! How difficult is this? I am a firm believer in three strikes your out....I have tried 3 X to get into it, I won't be back to that site any time soon. PLEASE give us back the old MLS.ca site! PLEEEEEASE!

Hi Mike
We don't really review other sites. Unless it affects us directly, such as the subject here.

But I am sure there will be comments on your site from other readers here-( We take no responsibility for it). Everyone here is free to speak their mind.
I left the link, so others can check you out. Best of luck with your project!

Hello Montreal!

I'm a Realtor in Edmonton, and we too are facing similar challenges. Because our economy is so focused on the oil-patch, the ups-and-downs of the oil and gas prices are really wreaking havoc on our real estate industry.

Up-DOWN-UP-down.

That's our problem.

While I wish you the best in your recovery, it is good for me to see that we're not the only ones getting hurt by the world economy.

Best of luck!

John Carle

It may be that 333 Sherbrooke East is one of the (very few) best buildings for living in Montreal, but only for Montreal's standards. Because of a very small number of high style condos offered on Montreal's Real Estate market this property is way too overpriced for what it is. It does not have a class of the condos of lets say those in the Old Montreal area. Many apartments are not well laid out. The location (corner of Shebrooke and St-Denis) is very very loud (trafic, summer fairs, snow removal trucks, hockey fans...) and with a lot of shady people wandering around (St-Louis Park). The outdoor (Montreal summer is a month long!) swimming pool is going to be the size of a big bath. I'm personally unimpressed with 333 Sherbrooke E. building.

I agree that Realtors.ca is only slightly better than the old mls.ca only because of its mapping feature. So here's a suggestion or two for improvement:

1. Have 50/+ real users (non-agents) who are searching specifically, use the realtors.ca system and have them critique it. Test drive it for a useful length of time. I have found many flaws which were extremely frustrating and which I think can be easily corrected.
2. Hire a software writer who CARES more about the users' needs than his own ego. I am sure that there are many experienced, university-trained program writers in this country. Surely, management is smart enough to hire someone who is more knowledgeable about this than I am.

The new site is terrible. I sent them an email a few days ago and got a generic robot reponse saying how the new site was more effecient. Overall I am disappoint because mls appears have sacrificed functionality for a "cool technologically advanced system."
